Where The Wild Things Really Are!!!

Helloooo Bloggers! The other day my Creative Concepts class went to the Field Museum, and I must say I was impressed with how much culture and information I gathered from my first visit in the past almost 15 years. I suggest to my fellow Chicagoans and tourists of this great city: get out and explore the city! There is so much to see and do here in this mixing pot of culture and diversity. The field museum is filled with ancient treasures from all over the world in such places like Africa, Egypt, and Aztec civilizations to name a few. There is even a special tour about diamonds. However there is one part of the museum that I find quite astounding; the animals! Here at the candyshop I have a softspot for animals (especially baby animals), (ok to be truthfully honest I don't like birds but that is another story) and I am in awe with some of the display animals that the museum has. Granted these animals are dead and one even extinct, but the sheer realism of the atmosphere makes you feel like your'e right in the middle of the jungle or the mountains with the bears! I heard the rumor of a giraffe being in the museum but I didn't get to see it which is kind of a bummer. aEither way I have to say the most captivating part of the show is the display of the Lions of Tsavo. These lions were infamous in the early 1900's for making a meal of railroad workers in Africa (there was even a movie about it "The Ghost and the Darkness") These lions looked almost possesed. They are unlike any breed I've ever seen. Overall I enjoyed the trip and would love to go back. Now that I'm older and can apppreciate these rare findings in life, I must say this trip was...sweet!

Prompt and Circumstance

Hello blog world. It's been a few days since I posted. It's amazing what change can come about in a matter of a few days. Ok if your'e wondering what I'm yammering about I'll tell you...WE NOW HAVE UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! We the American people no longer have to pay 400.00 for a band aid when we go to the emergency room with a boo-bo0! Congratulations America we have now graduated to respectable once more in the eyes of this queen!

THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM YAHOO NEWS:
In the early years, most Americans will see only minor changes in the health care system. It will almost immediately end some insurance-company practices, such as denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions. And dependent children under the age of 26 would be allowed to remain on their parents' policies if they cannot get health insurance elsewhere. Adults with pre-existing conditions would also be able to buy coverage through expanded high-risk pools.

Beginning in 2014, more far-reaching measures will begin to take effect. States would be required to set up new "exchanges," or insurance marketplaces, that would offer a variety of health care plans for small businesses and individuals who do not get coverage from their employers. Government subsidies would be available to those earning up to 400% of poverty. Employers with 50 or more workers who do not offer coverage would be fined, and for the first time, most people would be required to obtain health coverage - either at work, or by purchasing it on their own - or pay a penalty.

All of this would be paid for in two ways: By reducing spending on Medicare by hundreds of billions, and by imposing a set of new taxes, including a 40% levy on certain high-priced insurance policies.

But while the bill is headed toward becoming law, the fighting over it isn't going away anytime soon. Republicans have already issued notice that they plan to campaign in this fall's midterm elections on a pledge to repeal it. There will be constitutional challenges. And in dozens of states, legislatures are considering measures that would attempt to exempt their citizens from some of its provisions, including the requirement that individuals purchase insurance.

HELLOOOO BLOGGERS!

Hello fellow bloggers. It is only appropriate that I begin my blog with a little something about myself. I am 26 years old, currently a student in a college located in downtown Chicago (name withheld until they pay me to advertise their name) majoring in advertising communications (if anyone is hiring a copywriter call me) :0) Moving on to other things, I know the question plaguing your brain is "why is she calling herself prom queen?" I will tell you . Was I the prom queen in high school? No I wasn't but I wanted to be and since this is my little corner in this big huge world, I am prom queen! I am in charge and have the final say so ...just like a queen! In other news (I always wanted to say that) this blog is my little candyshop. It will be filled with both the sweet and the bitter things in life. Some things irresistably decadent (trying not to picture a snickers right now, my favorite candy..ok one daydream won't hurt mmmm) and other things are rediculously sour and bring tears to your eyes. I think you get the point. Some days will be sweet like skittles and other days boring and uneventful like a milkyway (can you tell I hate milkyways I mean who eats chocolate fluff anyway, eww) Anyway, so if hearing the rants and complaints of a college student are your forte', then by all means, come on in! ...but first let's review class:
good=skittles, snickers, milk chocolate
bad= sour patches, darkchocolate, three musketeers
